Q&A With Dana Miller

We are so happy to share this short Q&A we did with the lovely Dana Miller, founder of the blog House Tweaking.

My style in three words: simple, casual, cozy

My favorite room in my home: I can’t pick a favorite room but my favorite spot is the 9′ kitchen island. It’s so versatile and family-friendly. Meal prep, homework, Saturday morning pancake breakfasts, drinks with friends, Play-doh sessions, after school snacks, art projects and even some laundry folding all happen here. Guests are always drawn to the island. It’s literally the hub of our home.

Best flea market find: I love snatching up antique wooden spools from flea markets and grouping them as “sculptures” on open shelves. They’re inexpensive and virtually indestructible (i.e., kid-friendly)!

Describe your dream Friday night? Open windows, spicy pork ribs on the stove for dinner, a family walk around the neighborhood, ice cream from the best local joint (cinnamon ice cream + mini chocolate chips in a waffle cone for me) then a family movie in the living room with lots of blankets. (Our current favorite is O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?.) The kids go to bed with no trouble. I sneak in thirty minutes of reading in bed before drifting off to sleep for a solid 6-7 hours. Perfection.

Alejandra likes ice cream, dancing and pretty things. You can usually find her exploring downtown Phoenix, where she lives, or singing to herself while writing in a coffee shop.
