Trim the Tree for Under $20

Deck the halls on a budget with these DIY tree trimming ideas. We love the idea of a handmade holiday that little tykes can help create. And don’t worry, these decorations won’t take all day. As a general rule we stuck to easy, inexpensive and quick projects you can whip out in no time.

Garland: A paper chain garland is a nostalgic throw back and brings in a lot of color right off the bat. Our total cost was only a buck for four sheets of 12×12-inch blue card stock.

Candy Canes: A package of red and white pipe cleaners twist together to make bright candy canes. The best part? You can enlist the little ones to help!

Felt Ornaments: Trace cookie cutters onto stiff felt and cut out. Then punch a hole and string up! We also found a pack of blue felt snowflakes for $3 at a local craft store.

Merry Banner: Burlap and paint is all you need to create your own festive banner, but for just $5, we picked this one up at Target. Worth the time saved, we say!
